James Droskoski Sr Eulogy
Posted August 19th, 2008 by James DroskoskiRiverhead resident James A. Droskoski Sr died at 11:15 pm on July 3 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Greenport April 7, 1944, to Wesley and Helen (Januick) Droskoski. Raised in Jamesport, Mr. Droskoski graduated from Riverhead High School in 1961.
After earning a two-year horticultral degree from Morrisville State College, he worked as a Police Officer at Suffolk County’s Sixth Precinct in Coram. He married his wife, Marjorie, on March 17, 1972, and together they raised a family in Riverhead.
In his free time, he also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, fishing and clamming, according to family members. James Droskoski’s pickle and kielbasa and sauerkraut recipes were famous among family and friends. Relatives recall his storytelling and his unwavering affection for his cat, Honey.
James Droskoski is survived by his wife, Marjorie Droskoski; his five children, James, of Centerport, Bradley, of Center Moriches, Andrew, of Riverhead, Debra (Droskoski) Armstrong and Kimberly (Droskoski) Ford, both of Tampa, Florida; a brother, Wesley, of Riverhead; a sister, Helen Ruskowski of Calverton; and five grandchildren.
Family received visitors July 6 at Mclaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Following private cremation, funeral services were held July 7 at St. John’s Church in Riverhead.
